Instructions for Subtitling Swoop Films’ Documentary: “Finding Courage”

Options for subtitling:

OPTION 1: You have a translator AND a video editor who can help with the subtitles in your language.
* Use either the English subtitles (.SRT file) or English transcript document (link here) to translate into your language
* Download the low resolution file of the film (link here) and add the subtitles in your language according to your video editing software.
* Export your language subtitles as an .SRT file (video editing programs like FCPX now have an easy option to do this)
* Have your translator(s) check the subtitles for any errors before sending the SRT file to us at Swoop Films.
* We will add your SRT subtitle file as is to our movie and will make your subtitles available on whichever versions of the film are currently available online.


OPTION 2: You only have a translator, NO video editor.
* Translate the English subtitles in this .SRT file. Do not change any of the spacing between lines and do not change any of the numbers (they are important for the subtitles to appear correctly on screen)
* Have your translator(s) check the subtitles multiple times for any errors before sending the SRT file to us at Swoop Films.
* We will add your SRT subtitle file as is to our movie and will make your subtitles available on whichever versions of the film are currently available online.
* We will send you a preview to double check all the subtitles before they appear online and we can make minor adjustments if needed at this time.

PROMOTING THE FILM

Tell us how you'd like to promote the video. We can provide a limited number of promo codes for potential VIP screening partners. The movie director, Kay Rubacek, is available to attend panel discussions or post-screening Q&A sessions.
