Director Kay Rubacek from Swoop Films is interviewed in the report about producing 'Finding Courage,' our next film about Yifei and her family's ordeal. This story will be presented at the Republican National Committee next spring.
We wanted to share with you a behind-the-scenes photo of our crew at our latest shoot for our film "Finding Courage". We filmed the main character of the film (Yifei) at the Holocaust Memorial in San Francisco - it reminds her of her sister who was killed in a labor camp by the Chinese Communist regime, as well as many of her friends who were also killed, imprisoned, or are living as fugitives in China today to avoid arrest for standing up for their faith. The dehumanization and persecution of large groups of Chinese citizens by the regime is still going on now.
Condemnation of the Chinese Communist Party for its forced organ-harvesting of prisoners of conscience is growing internationally. Many survivors of Chinese labor camps and human rights lawyers among others provided evidence and gave testimony throughout the tribunal which lasted several days. The tribunal, led by Sir Geoffrey Nice QC, a world-renowned lawyer and professor of law stated of the evidence given, “We, the tribunal members are all certain, unanimously, and sure beyond all reasonable doubt that in China, forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience has been practiced for a substantial period of time, involving a very substantial number of victims.”
The 2016 report “Bloody Harvest/The Slaughter: An Update” published by David Kilgour, David Matas and Ethan Gutmann who were a part of our film Hard To Believe which sheds light on forced organ harvesting in China gave statistics pointing to genocide with between 60,000 and 100,000 organ transplants per year from Falun Gong, Uyghurs, Tibetans, and House Christians who are specifically targeted groups whose members are killed for their organs. This tribunal may be one of the most significant events to date by the international community to address and hold the Chinese Communist Party accountable for its crimes against humanity.

The documentary Hard to Believe was screened at the University of Miami on the evening of November 1. The documentary offers proof that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is killing Falun Gong practitioners for their organs. Medical professors at the university are condemning the barbaric practice.
Hard to Believe is a foray into the relatively unseen world of organ harvesting. What the film does best is introduce viewers to the topic and generate an awareness of the issue. As awareness of the topic does increase, the film directors can take credit for creating a megaphone through which the topic is amplified. Certainly, the film is posed to spur further international conversations and legislation around the practice of human organ harvesting.
At the initiative of the International Coalition to End Transplant Abuse In China (ETAC) an independent Tribunal has been established to inquire into forced organ harvesting from, amongst others, prisoners of conscience in China. The Tribunal expects to publish its findings in early-mid 2019.
A screening in Warsaw, Poland on January 13th was the first in a series of screenings across Poland.
A series of screenings at Universidad Mundial campuses and other sites in Mexico lead to interest and discussions.
Salt Lake Community College featured "Hard To Believe" in their "Movies That Matter" event series this week followed by a panel discussion after the screening with Dr. Weldon Gilcrease, representative of Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting; Winston Liu, a former prisoner of conscience in China; and Kay Rubacek, Swoop Films producer.
This horrifying expose of China’s practice of organs from prisoners of conscience, a practice denied by the Chinese government, is based on reporting by author Ethan Gutmann (The Slaughter). It is corroborated by global experts in human rights, medical ethics, and transplant surgery, making a convincing and compelling case.

On Friday, April 7, around 160 9th grade students attended two screenings of "Hard To Believe" at a high school in Mexico, and learned about the issue of forced organ harvesting and transplant abuse in China.
